Neighborhood Watch

Hawthorne Station participates in Snohomish County’s Neighborhood Watch program.  As homeowners we are all responsible for reporting any suspicious activity immediately to the proper local authorities such as the police or fire department. By reporting something as it is happening there is more likelihood it will be addressed & solved right away. After reporting it to the authorities, please advise your block captain. If you're not sure whether or not you should report something you see, call your block watch captain or call 911, tell the operation your call is a non-emergency and discuss the issue that your see with the 911 operator. According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department, the best way to prevent crime is to have a Neighborhood Watch program in place. This program gives you the authority to stay aware of what is happening in your own front & back yards.

Please participate in neighborhood watch by:

  • Knowing who your neighbors are.
  • Introduce yourself to passersby as they're walking down your street.
  • Take note of cars that might be driving slowly down your street.
  • Call your neighbor to let them know they left their garage door open.
  • Lock your car doors and the doors to your house.
  • Remove packages from your cars so they don't become bait for a thief.
  • Keep outside lights on at night.
  • Be aware of what belongs & what doesn't.
  • Keep an eye on your neighbor’s yards & houses.
  • Get your teenagers involved in neighborhood watch too.  This is their neighborhood too.
  • Let your block captain or your next-door neighbor know when you're going on vacation.
  • Stop your newspapers while you're away.

These are just a few tips for helping make Neighborhood Watch work well. By participating and getting involved, we'll be able to keep Hawthorne Station a safe place to live.
